Second Arrest Made in 2025 FedEx iPhone Theft Case

In a significant development, authorities have apprehended a second individual in connection with the theft of Apple products valued at over $30,000 from a FedEx shipment in Miami-Dade County. The incident, which occurred in November 2025, involved two FedEx employees who allegedly orchestrated the heist.

The latest arrest took place on July 15, with the suspect now facing charges related to cargo theft. This follows the earlier arrest of the first suspect in June. Both individuals were employed by FedEx at the time of the theft.

According to reports, the thefts were reported on December 18, 2025, after Apple confirmed shortages amounting to $22,506.28 on November 28 and $8,658.20 on November 29. The shipments, assigned to the now-arrested FedEx driver, were intended for delivery to retail stores. An internal investigation revealed unexplained extended stops and time clock manipulation during the dates when the thefts occurred.

Surveillance footage played a crucial role in the investigation. It captured a FedEx truck making an unauthorized stop in Pinecrest, where a Dodge pickup, driven by the second suspect, pulled up behind it. Investigators described this as a back-to-back cargo transfer. Further analysis of GPS data and telephone records indicated contact between the FedEx driver and the second suspect at the time of the unauthorized stop.

After learning about the arrest of his alleged accomplice, the second suspect voluntarily surrendered to authorities. His defense attorney stated that upon discovering he was being sought, they immediately contacted the detective and arranged for his surrender.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the stolen Apple products have been recovered. Authorities have emphasized their commitment to addressing cargo thefts and have issued a stern warning against such activities in the area.

This case underscores the vulnerabilities within supply chains and the importance of stringent internal controls. The involvement of employees in such thefts highlights the need for companies to implement robust monitoring systems and conduct regular audits to prevent similar incidents. As the legal proceedings continue, it will be essential to observe how the justice system addresses this breach of trust and what measures FedEx and similar companies will adopt to safeguard against future internal thefts.
