Founded by brothers Patrick and Ryan Coughlin, both with extensive backgrounds in technology and cybersecurity, Savi aims to shield individuals from scams that utilize advanced artificial intelligence to deceive victims.
The inception of Savi was driven by a personal incident involving the founders’ mother. Approximately two years ago, she received a distressing phone call that appeared to come from her daughter’s number. The caller claimed to have kidnapped her daughter and demanded a ransom, even replicating her daughter’s voice to make the threat more convincing. Fortunately, the situation was a hoax, but it highlighted the potential dangers posed by AI in the hands of cybercriminals.
Recognizing the need for consumer-focused security solutions, the Coughlin brothers developed Savi’s app to detect and prevent such AI-driven scams. The application employs advanced algorithms to analyze incoming communications, identifying anomalies and patterns indicative of fraudulent activity. By doing so, it provides users with real-time alerts and guidance on how to handle suspicious interactions.
Savi Security has secured $7 million in seed funding to support the development and deployment of its app. The funding round was led by Acrew Capital, with participation from Magnify Ventures, TTCER, and Resolute Ventures. The app is now available for download on both iOS and Android platforms.
