Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 8, a foldable smartphone that introduces subtle refinements over its predecessor. Priced at $1,199, the device maintains the familiar clamshell design while incorporating minor enhancements.
The Z Flip 8 is slightly thinner, measuring 6.1mm when unfolded, compared to the previous 6.5mm. It also sheds some weight, now at 180 grams. These adjustments contribute to a more comfortable in-hand experience.
The cover display remains a prominent feature, extending to the device’s edges. With the introduction of One UI 9, the cover screen now offers a redesigned interface, including a central widget displaying calendar events and other contextual information powered by Now Nudge. An expanded app drawer supports up to 50 applications, primarily from Samsung’s ecosystem, enhancing functionality without opening the device.
Internally, the Z Flip 8 retains several specifications from its predecessor. It houses a 4,300 mAh battery, a dual-camera setup with 50MP wide and 12MP ultra-wide lenses, and offers configurations of 12GB RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of storage. Notably, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor in select regions, marking a return to Qualcomm’s chipset.
Color options for the Z Flip 8 include Graphite, White, Pink, and an online-exclusive Mint variant. Pre-orders are currently open, with the device available at the stated price point.
