Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series Unveiled: Premium Power From $1,199

Samsung has officially introduced its latest flagship tablets: the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. These two high-end Android tablets bring significant spec bumps under the hood, fresh design choices, and a focus on productivity tools — all shipping October 7 in the U.S.

Top-tier specs for Pro users

The Tab S12+ features a 12.6-inch AMOLED display with a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate and in-display fingerprint sensor. It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip and offers 12GB of RAM alongside options for 256GB or 512GB of storage — expandable via microSD. The battery packs in at 10,600mAh, and you’ll get IP68 water and dust resistance, a 13MP rear camera, and an ultrawide 12MP front-facing camera. The dimensions are 187.8mm × 289.5mm × 5.3mm, and weight hovers around 553g (555g for the 5G model).

The Tab S12 Ultra ups the game with a 14.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen (also with in-display fingerprint sensor), the same Dimensity chip, and more choice for RAM — you can get 12GB or 16GB. Storage options span from 256GB up to 1TB, again with microSD support. It includes both a 13MP main rear shooter and an 8MP ultrawide. Power comes from an 11,600mAh battery. The Ultra weighs 692g and measures 208.5mm × 326.3mm × 5.1mm. Notably, the Ultra only offers Wi-Fi variants — no cellular option.

Software, accessories & pricing

Out of the box, both Tab S12 models ship with One UI 9 based on Android 17, and Samsung is committing to seven years of OS and security updates — among the longest support cycles for tablets. A new, larger vapor chamber improves thermal performance, and IP68 certification ensures rugged durability.

Samsung includes the S Pen with every tablet, while keyboard covers and other accessories are sold separately. In an effort to boost productivity, Adobe Photoshop comes pre-installed and is optimized for the S Pen, with four months of free access. Notability is also preloaded (recently added to Android) with a six-month trial. Users will also see promotions for GoodNotes, LumaFusion, Notion, and Google’s AI Pro add-ons that enhance Gemini abilities.

In terms of pricing, the Tab S12+ starts at $1,199. The Tab S12 Ultra begins at $1,399 — a $100 bump compared to its predecessor. Both devices hit U.S. markets October 7.

Samsung rounds out the line by keeping the former IP68 rating, refining its heat dissipation, and leaving behind a cellular option for the Ultra. The smaller 11-inch size seen in past flagships isn’t part of this generation — the Tab S11 remains Samsung’s compact choice.

Analytical note: For power users and creatives, the Tab S12 pair represents a clear step forward. Improved displays, significantly more storage, and years of OS support show Samsung doubling down on its premium positioning. What to watch: whether real-world battery life scales up for the Ultra, how well the software partnerships like Photoshop and Google AI Pro translate into daily productivity, and how these price increases will impact adoption compared to midrange tablets pushing value at lower costs.
