Orbio Secures $21M to Revolutionize Frontline Workforce Management with AI

Orbio, an enterprise startup founded in 2025 by former Amazon and Colvin executive Sergi Bastardas, along with co-founders Nacho Travesí and Antonio Melé, has secured $21 million in a Series A funding round led by Dawn Capital. The company specializes in automating the hiring and management of frontline workers through AI-driven agents.

Orbio’s AI agents—Maria, Daniel, and Claire—are designed to handle various aspects of workforce management, including interviewing candidates, assessing their suitability, monitoring employee performance, and conducting daily check-ins throughout an employee’s tenure. This comprehensive approach aims to enable businesses to manage their frontline workforce more autonomously and efficiently.

Several prominent companies, such as Poke and YUM! Brands—the parent company of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and KFC—have already integrated Orbio’s solutions into their operations. Behavioral health provider The Stepping Stones Group has fully deployed Orbio’s software across its U.S. operations, resulting in a 20% increase in candidates progressing to hire.

Orbio’s AI agents generate data that interconnects various stages of the employment lifecycle. For instance, insights from onboarding processes can inform recruitment strategies, while data from exit interviews can recalibrate hiring criteria. This interconnected data flow enhances overall workforce management and decision-making.

In the competitive landscape, Orbio faces rivals like Paradox, which focuses on automating recruitment processes, and WorkJam, which offers frontline employee management solutions. However, Bastardas identifies the primary competition as traditional, fragmented methods of managing frontline workers—often reliant on spreadsheets and manual communication. Orbio’s AI-driven approach seeks to modernize and streamline these processes.

With this latest funding round, Orbio’s total capital raised reaches $26 million, including investments from Visionaries and 2100 Ventures. The new funds are earmarked for expanding the development of additional AI agents to further enhance the platform’s capabilities.

The significance of Orbio’s advancements extends beyond business efficiency. By providing AI-driven tools tailored for the 2.7 billion frontline workers globally—many of whom lack corporate email addresses—Orbio is addressing a long-standing gap in workforce management technology. This initiative represents a pivotal moment in integrating AI solutions into sectors like healthcare, retail, logistics, and hospitality, potentially transforming the daily operations and support systems for frontline employees.
