Nothing Phone (4b) Set to Launch in July as a More Affordable Option

Nothing has announced the upcoming release of the Phone (4b), a new addition to its smartphone lineup, scheduled for launch on July 7 at 11:00 BST. This model is positioned as a more affordable alternative within the company’s offerings.

The announcement was made through a YouTube video, where Nothing playfully hinted at the new series with the statement: “Woah, we’ve never done a (b) before. New series? New bee movie? Join us on 7 July at 11:00 BST to see what we’ve been working on.”

Co-founder Akis Evangelidis further clarified on Twitter that the Phone (4b) will be priced below the existing Phone (4a), indicating a focus on budget-conscious consumers. This move is particularly noteworthy given the recent discontinuation of the CMF Phone series due to rising component costs, which previously occupied the lower price segment in Nothing’s product range.

Accompanying the teaser video, design sketches were showcased, featuring the Phone (4a), Phone (4a) Pro, and an unidentified third device. It is speculated that this third design represents the forthcoming Phone (4b), though Nothing has a history of using such sketches to mislead leaks, leaving room for uncertainty.

Introducing the Phone (4b) suggests that Nothing is aiming to capture a broader market by offering a more affordable smartphone option. This strategy could attract consumers seeking quality devices at lower price points, especially in light of the company’s decision to halt the CMF Phone series. The upcoming launch will provide further insights into the specifications and features of the Phone (4b), as well as its potential impact on the competitive budget smartphone market.
