Mindgard, an AI security startup, has successfully closed a $30 million Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to nearly $42 million. This significant investment underscores the increasing demand for robust security measures in the rapidly expanding field of artificial intelligence.

The funding round was led by Album VC, with participation from new investor Karma Ventures and existing backers .406 Ventures, Atlantic Bridge, IQ Capital, and Lakestar. Mindgard intends to utilize the capital to scale its product development, engineering, sales, and marketing teams to meet the growing needs of its customer base.

Advancing AI Security Through Continuous Testing

Originating from Lancaster University, which houses one of the world’s largest AI security labs, Mindgard has transformed over a decade of research into a commercial platform. The company’s primary innovation lies in its Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) for AI—a continuous, automated red-teaming framework. This approach actively tests AI models, agents, and applications for vulnerabilities using real-world attack techniques, moving beyond theoretical risk assessments.

Mindgard’s offensive security strategy has already led to the identification and public disclosure of over 150 high-impact security and safety vulnerabilities in widely deployed AI products.
