June 2026 Pixel Feature Drop Introduces Bubbles, Screen Reactions, and More

Google has unveiled the June 2026 Pixel Feature Drop, coinciding with the stable release of Android 17. This update introduces several enhancements aimed at improving user experience and device functionality.

Floating Bubbles for Enhanced Multitasking

A standout feature in this update is the introduction of floating Bubbles, allowing users to access applications in overlay mode. Similar to chat heads, these Bubbles enable apps to open over the current screen and minimize into movable icons, facilitating seamless multitasking. For Pixel Fold users, a new Bubble Bar has been added, providing a dedicated strip at the bottom-right corner of the unfolded display for quick access to these floating apps.

Screen Reactions and Recording Enhancements

The update also brings Screen Reactions, a feature integrated into the new floating screen recorder. This allows users to overlay a selfie video with a green screen effect over full display recordings, adding a personalized touch to screen captures.

Expanded Quick Share Compatibility

Quick Share’s AirDrop compatibility has been extended to include the Pixel 8a and 9a models globally, enhancing file-sharing capabilities across devices.

Magic Cue Integration in Messaging Apps

Magic Cue, known for providing contextual suggestions, is now being integrated into more messaging applications on the Pixel 10 and newer devices. Users can expect these enhancements to roll out over the coming weeks.

International Expansion of Phone App Features

Several features within the Phone app are now available in additional countries:

  • Take a Message: Live transcripts for missed or declined calls are now accessible in countries including Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan. Additionally, users can now record personalized outgoing messages with the new Custom Greetings feature.
  • Voice Translate: This feature, which translates callers speaking in another language while preserving their voice, is now available on the Pixel 10a.
  • Manual Call Screen: Pixel 10 series users in India can now manually screen calls, providing greater control over incoming communications.
  • Edit Photos Conversational Editing: The conversational editing experience in Google Photos is expanding to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK for Pixel 6 and newer devices.

Gemini App Enhancements

The Gemini app has received updates, including the introduction of Lyria 3 for music creation and enhancements to the Gemini Omni video creation feature, offering users more creative tools.

Pixel Watch Safety Features

Beyond the broader Wear OS 7 release, the Pixel Watch now integrates Emergency Sharing into Car Crash, Fall, and Loss of Pulse Detection. When these severe events are detected, the Pixel Watch will call emergency services and notify selected contacts. Users can customize who is notified through the settings.

These updates reflect Google’s commitment to enhancing the Pixel ecosystem by introducing features that improve usability, safety, and creativity. As the Pixel lineup continues to evolve, users can anticipate further innovations that integrate seamlessly into their daily lives.
