To utilize this functionality, users can employ the Camera app’s Siri mode to scan physical cards containing barcodes. Alternatively, they can capture a screenshot of a digital pass. Upon scanning or capturing, the system prompts the user to save the pass directly to Apple Wallet. Once added, these passes are accessible as barcodes or QR codes on both iPhone and Apple Watch devices.
Since its inception, Apple Wallet has evolved to support a wide array of digital items, including credit cards, driver’s licenses, transit cards, boarding passes, car keys, and hotel keys. Despite this extensive support, many users still encounter situations where physical passes are necessary, leading to the inconvenience of carrying and remembering additional items.
The introduction of the physical pass import feature addresses this gap by enabling users to store virtually all their passes within the Wallet app. This advancement not only streamlines the user experience but also reduces the likelihood of forgetting essential passes, as they are now integrated into devices that users carry daily.
