iOS 27.3 Beta Brings Karaoke Selfies & Sleeker Lyrics View to Apple Music

A developer beta version of iOS 27.3 has revealed two significant updates to Apple Music coming next month. These enhancements center on getting more creative with self-expression and refining how lyrics are displayed.

Selfie Sing: Karaoke Meets Creator Mode

The most eye-catching feature is “Selfie Sing,” a new mode for Apple Music that lets users shoot karaoke-style videos using their front-facing camera. Built off the existing Apple Music Sing toolkit, this feature essentially turns any user into their own karaoke star—perfect for sharing performances on platforms like TikTok or Instagram. In the beta, “Selfie Sing” is accessible through an Apple Music playlist of the same name.

Animated Lyrics Delivered in Landscape

Alongside the video-first update, lyrics display gets a visual boost. When viewing lyrics in landscape mode on any iPhone, the artwork for the current track now extends into the background behind the lyrics, creating a more immersive visual experience. Previously, this blend of animated artwork and lyrics in this style existed only on the newer iPhone Duo models; iOS 27.3 spreads it across compatible devices.

Both changes are part of the beta build of iOS 27.3, which is slated to launch in full next month. Users who subscribe to Apple Music—and potentially those bundled via Apple One—will get to try these new tools once the update rolls out.

These updates underscore Apple’s ongoing push to blur the lines between music listening, social sharing, and visual experiences. The selfie karaoke mode ties into the rising demand for performance-led content, while the lyric animations reflect growing expectations for immersive media design. For users, the fun factor is evident; for Apple, it’s a move to deepen engagement.
