Google’s Gemini AI Now Available in Chrome for UK Users

Google has expanded the availability of its Gemini AI integration within the Chrome browser to users in the United Kingdom. This rollout follows previous launches in regions such as the United States, Canada, India, New Zealand, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Gemini in Chrome offers users a suite of AI-powered features designed to enhance the browsing experience. These include the ability to summarize lengthy content, compare information across multiple tabs, and integrate seamlessly with popular Google applications like Calendar, Maps, Gmail, and YouTube. For instance, users can schedule meetings, check location details, draft emails, and inquire about YouTube videos without leaving their current webpage.

Additionally, Gemini leverages Nano Banana 2 capabilities to transform images on the web through simple text prompts, providing a more interactive and personalized browsing experience.

To access Gemini in Chrome, users can click the Gemini icon located in the top-right corner of the browser window. Alternatively, they can use keyboard shortcuts, access it via the Mac menu bar or Windows system tray, or right-click on a page to select the “Ask Gemini” option from the context menu. The AI assistant can be displayed as a side panel adjacent to the current webpage or as a floating window, depending on user preference. Customization options are available under Chrome Settings > AI innovations > Gemini in Chrome, with additional appearance settings under Settings > Appearance > Side panel position.

Initially, Gemini in Chrome is available to desktop users in the UK, with support for Chrome on iOS devices expected to roll out next month.

The introduction of Gemini in Chrome to UK users signifies Google’s commitment to enhancing the browsing experience through AI integration. As these features become more widely available, users can anticipate a more efficient and interactive web experience, with AI assistance seamlessly integrated into their daily online activities.
