Google Photos has unveiled a new feature called ‘Video Remix,’ designed to simplify video editing by leveraging artificial intelligence. This tool enables users to transform their video clips effortlessly, applying various effects and styles with minimal effort.
Integrated into the ‘Create’ tab of Google Photos, Video Remix offers functionalities such as cinematic relighting to enhance poorly lit videos, background replacement to substitute plain settings with more dynamic ones, and artistic filters that can render videos in styles like watercolor, sketchbook, or oil painting.
For instance, users can modify a video to appear as though it was filmed in a greenhouse, adjust the lighting to mimic a morning glow, or apply a watercolor effect to the entire clip.
Google emphasizes that creating visually appealing videos should not require professional expertise or extensive editing time. With Video Remix, users can achieve impressive results in just a few taps.
The rollout of Video Remix begins today for subscribers of Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra in select countries, including the United States, Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, and Turkey.
This addition is part of Google’s broader initiative to integrate generative AI tools into its consumer applications, positioning itself competitively against companies like Apple, OpenAI, and Adobe.
