Google Maps is significantly enhancing its user experience by expanding the rollout of two major features: Immersive Navigation and the speedometer in Android Auto.
Immersive Navigation, introduced earlier this year, represents one of the most substantial updates to Google Maps in recent times. This feature offers more detailed and specific directions, providing users with a vivid 3D view that reflects buildings, overpasses, and terrain. It also highlights critical road details such as lanes, crosswalks, traffic lights, and stop signs, aiming to make navigation more intuitive and confident. In addition to Immersive Navigation, Google Maps is expanding the availability of the live speedometer feature in Android Auto. This functionality displays the vehicle’s current speed directly within the app interface, enhancing driver awareness and safety. The speedometer feature began appearing earlier this month and is now reaching a wider audience, including users not enrolled in beta programs for Google Maps or Android Auto. This suggests a server-side update facilitating the broader rollout.
