Google Expands Gemini AI Integration in Chrome to Australia, Asia, and More

Google Expands Gemini Integration in Chrome to Seven New Countries

Google has announced the expansion of its Gemini integration within the Chrome browser to seven additional countries: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. This rollout extends the availability of Gemini’s AI-powered features to both desktop and iOS users in these regions, with the exception of Japan, where the feature is currently limited to desktop platforms.

Since its initial introduction, Gemini has been progressively integrated into Chrome, enhancing user experience through AI capabilities. The feature initially appeared as a floating window, providing users with contextual assistance and information. Earlier this year, Google transitioned Gemini into a more accessible sidebar-based assistant. This sidebar allows users to interact with Gemini across multiple tabs, offering personalized responses by connecting to services such as Gmail and Google Photos. Users can also perform tasks like scheduling meetings via Calendar, retrieving location details through Maps, and drafting emails in Gmail directly within the Chrome interface.

An additional functionality introduced is the ability to transform images found on the web using Nano Banana 2, accessible through the Gemini sidebar. This feature enables users to manipulate and edit images seamlessly without leaving the browser environment.

The initial launch of Gemini in Chrome was exclusive to U.S.-based users. In March, Google expanded the feature’s availability to India, Canada, and New Zealand. With the current expansion, a broader international audience can now benefit from Gemini’s AI-driven enhancements within Chrome.

It’s important to note that while Gemini’s core features are now more widely accessible, certain advanced functionalities, such as the agentic feature that autonomously controls browser windows to complete tasks, remain in the testing phase. Currently, this feature is available exclusively to subscribers of Google’s AI Pro and AI Ultra paid plans within the United States.

This strategic expansion underscores Google’s commitment to integrating AI technologies into its products, aiming to provide users worldwide with more intuitive and efficient browsing experiences.
