Cannes Lions has announced that Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, will be honored as the 2026 Entertainment Person of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have significantly influenced the entertainment industry through innovative storytelling and cultural contributions. Cue’s leadership has been instrumental in transforming Apple’s role in the entertainment sector, overseeing a diverse range of services that have reshaped how audiences engage with media.
Transforming Apple TV into an Industry Powerhouse
Under Cue’s guidance, Apple TV has evolved from a nascent platform into a formidable presence in the streaming industry. Launched six years ago, Apple TV has produced critically acclaimed series such as Severance, Ted Lasso, and the groundbreaking comedy The Studio. Notably, The Studio set a new benchmark by becoming the most awarded first-year comedy series in history. Additionally, Apple’s original sports film F1 shattered global box office records, further cementing the company’s influence in the entertainment landscape.
Expanding Apple’s Digital Services Ecosystem
Beyond video content, Cue’s responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum of Apple’s digital services. He oversees Apple Music, which recently achieved record-breaking subscriber numbers, as well as essential services like Apple Maps and iCloud storage. His strategic vision has been pivotal in integrating these services into a cohesive ecosystem, enhancing user experience and engagement across Apple’s platforms.
Celebrating the Achievement
To commemorate this accolade, Cue is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on June 22 at the Cannes Lions festival. He will be joined by renowned Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who collaborated with Apple on the F1 movie.
