Deezer has introduced a complimentary online tool capable of identifying AI-generated tracks within playlists from various streaming services, including Apple Music, Spotify, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music. Users can access this feature by visiting Deezer’s AI music detector site, selecting their preferred streaming platform, and granting the necessary permissions. The tool then imports and analyzes playlists, flagging any tracks that appear to be AI-generated.
Deezer’s CEO, Alexis Lanternier, emphasized the company’s commitment to transparency, stating, “No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use.” He highlighted that a significant number of users transitioning to Deezer from other platforms have AI-generated tracks in their playlists, underscoring the tool’s potential impact.
In contrast, Apple Music introduced ‘Transparency Tags’ in March, allowing artists and labels to voluntarily disclose AI involvement in their music. However, the optional nature of these tags raises questions about their effectiveness in ensuring transparency.
Deezer reports receiving over 60,000 fully AI-generated tracks daily, with synthetic content comprising approximately 39% of all music delivered to the platform. Alarmingly, up to 85% of streams on AI-generated music were fraudulent in 2025, according to Deezer’s data.
Deezer’s proactive approach in developing this detection tool sets a precedent in the industry, addressing the growing concern over AI-generated content and its implications for artists and listeners alike. As AI continues to permeate the music industry, tools like Deezer’s detector are crucial for maintaining authenticity and trust in streaming platforms.
