DaVinci Resolve 21 Revolutionizes Editing with Photo Integration and AI Enhancements
Blackmagic Design has unveiled DaVinci Resolve 21, a significant update that extends the software’s capabilities beyond video editing into the realm of still photography. This latest version introduces a dedicated Photo workspace, allowing users to apply advanced color grading techniques traditionally reserved for video to their photographs. Features such as primary color correction, curves, and node-based adjustments are now accessible for still images, ensuring that the original resolution remains uncompromised.
The new LightBox view offers a comprehensive display of entire albums with applied color grades, streamlining the review process. For photographers using Sony or Canon cameras, DaVinci Resolve 21 provides tethering support, enabling direct image capture into designated folders within the application.
In addition to photo editing, DaVinci Resolve 21 introduces AI-powered tools designed to enhance the editing workflow. The IntelliSearch feature scans the media pool to index specific objects, spoken words, or individual faces, facilitating quicker retrieval of desired clips. CineFocus allows editors to adjust a shot’s focal point post-recording, adding or modifying background blur as needed.
Facial editing tools have been enhanced to permit adjustments to a subject’s age, facial features, and blemish removal. For video footage that appears soft or blurry, the new UltraSharpen and Motion Deblur tools offer solutions to improve clarity and detail.
Additional upgrades in DaVinci Resolve 21 include improved text styling options, multi-language spell check, emoji support, and native handling for Lottie animations. The public beta of DaVinci Resolve 21 is currently available for free download on Blackmagic Design’s official website.
