Chase has unveiled new benefits for its Sapphire Preferred credit card, notably offering cardholders a complimentary one-year subscription to Apple TV+. This streaming service, typically priced at $12.99 per month in the U.S., becomes accessible to users who activate their card by December 31, 2026.
For existing Apple TV+ subscribers, the complimentary access from Chase will automatically override the current paid subscription for the duration of the free year. Once this period concludes, the original subscription will resume at the prevailing rate.
Apple One subscribers aren’t left out. By activating the complimentary Apple TV+ offer through Chase.com or the Chase Mobile app using the same Apple ID linked to their Apple One billing, they will receive a $7.50 monthly discount on their Apple One subscription for 12 months, starting from the next billing cycle.
Beyond the Apple TV+ perk, the Sapphire Preferred card introduces several enhancements:
- Triple points on gas, electric vehicle charging, and bookings through Airbnb and Vrbo.
- An increased annual hotel statement credit, now doubled to $100.
- A new $120 credit every four years applicable towards Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS fees.
- Added “emergency evacuation and transportation” coverage.
However, the 10% anniversary bonus benefit is being discontinued, and the transfer rate of Ultimate Rewards points to World of Hyatt has been adjusted to 4:3.
These updates maintain the card’s annual fee at $95. Both new and existing cardholders can access these benefits immediately. Additionally, new applicants can earn 100,000 points after spending $5,000 within the first three months.
In comparison, Chase’s premium Sapphire Reserve card offers complimentary subscriptions to both Apple TV+ and Apple Music but comes with a higher annual fee of $795.
Integrating Apple TV+ into the Sapphire Preferred card’s benefits reflects Chase’s strategy to enhance its offerings in a competitive credit card market. This move not only adds value for existing customers but also positions the card attractively for potential new users seeking entertainment perks alongside financial rewards.
