Apple is set to enhance the sports viewing experience for Apple Vision Pro users by streaming select Major League Baseball (MLB) games in Immersive Video. This initiative follows the company’s earlier success with broadcasting Los Angeles Lakers NBA games in a similar format.
The upcoming schedule includes four Friday Night Baseball games:
- August 28, 7 p.m. ET: Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees
- September 4, 6:30 p.m. ET: Los Angeles Angels at Pittsburgh Pirates
- September 11, 10 p.m. ET: San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants
- September 18, 10 p.m. ET: San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
These games will feature a dedicated broadcast tailored for the Vision Pro, complete with specialized commentary from Paul Severino (play-by-play), Xavier Scruggs (analyst), and Michelle Margaux (sideline reporter). The immersive feed will incorporate unique graphics and replays, with strategically placed cameras throughout each stadium to provide an engaging viewing experience.
Live broadcasts will be accessible to Vision Pro users, with on-demand replays available in the Apple TV app post-game. Access to Friday Night Baseball is included with an Apple TV subscription, priced at $12.99 per month following a 7-day free trial.
Apple’s foray into Immersive Video began with the Vision Pro’s launch, offering users a novel way to experience live events. The initial NBA broadcasts received positive feedback, setting the stage for this expansion into MLB games. This move underscores Apple’s commitment to leveraging its technology to redefine how fans engage with live sports.
By integrating Immersive Video into MLB broadcasts, Apple is not only enhancing the viewing experience but also positioning the Vision Pro as a versatile platform for sports enthusiasts. This development could pave the way for similar integrations across various sports, potentially transforming the landscape of sports broadcasting.
