Apple is preparing to release its most ambitious iPhone yet: the iPhone Duo. The world’s first dual-screen foldable iPhone will be available for preorder on October 16, 2026, with a full release in stores and through retailers slated for October 30. Design, Display & Durability
The iPhone Duo boasts a foldable frame featuring a large 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen. When unfolded, it stands as Apple’s slimmest iPhone to date. Both screens support ProMotion tech, offer Always-On visibility, and can reach up to 3,000 nits of brightness under direct sunlight. Inside, a nano-texture coating aims to reduce glare and mitigate the visual impact of the crease.
Durability was a focus: the Duo includes a titanium enclosure, Ceramic Shield protection on both displays, and IP68 water and dust resistance. The side button includes Touch ID, adding fingerprint authentication to the rollout alongside Face ID.
Cameras, Performance, & Connectivity
On the imaging front, there are two rear cameras: a 48MP main and an ultrawide lens, both capable of optical 2× zoom and macro shots. The inner folding screen hides an under-display FaceTime camera, while the outer panel features a 12MP Center Stage front-facing camera. Apple is also delivering new creative features like rear-camera selfies, outer-screen previews, pose detection, and a child-focused animation system dubbed “Kid Cue.”
Video capabilities get a major boost—users can shoot in 4K at 120fps with Dolby Vision and apply cinematic effects after filming at up to 60fps. Under the hood, the device runs on Apple’s new A20 Pro chip, promising about 20% faster CPU performance and around 40% faster graphics than the A19 Pro in the iPhone 17 Pro models. A vapor-chamber cooling system helps keep things running smoothly under heavy workloads.
On the connectivity front, the Duo will use an all-eSIM setup globally. New wireless tech includes a C2 modem with support for 5G mmWave, alongside Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread, enabled by a new N1 networking chip.
Battery, Charging, Multitasking & Extras
Apple rates battery life at up to 31 hours when watching video on the inner screen, with up to 44 hours when using the outer display. Fast charging gets you to 50% in roughly 20 minutes via cable, or 30 minutes using MagSafe or Qi2 wireless chargers. USB-C Apple Pencil support is coming before year’s end on both displays for creative and note-taking users.
On the software side, iOS 27 arrives preinstalled. Its new Siri AI features include personal context awareness and onscreen intelligence (still in beta). Multitasking is improved: Split View allows running either two separate apps or two windows of the same app; users can also save app pair layouts for quicker access.
Colors, Availability & Pricing
Color options are limited to Star White and Night Sky. The device will be available worldwide at launch, but availability will begin with preorder on October 16 and active sales in stores on October 30.
