Apple Releases macOS 26.6 Beta 4 to Developers

Apple has rolled out the fourth developer beta of macOS 26.6, marking a step closer to the official release of this update. This latest beta, identified by build number 25G5057c, follows the third beta released just a week prior.

Throughout the macOS 26.6 beta cycle, the focus has been primarily on resolving bugs and enhancing system performance. Notably, earlier release notes highlighted a fix addressing incorrect deprecation notifications that mistakenly identified certain applications as Intel-only. Beyond this, no significant new features have been introduced in the current beta versions.

As the development of macOS 26.6 nears completion, Apple’s attention is shifting towards the upcoming macOS 27, codenamed “Golden Gate,” which was unveiled during the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and is slated for a fall release.

For developers eager to test the new beta, the installation process is straightforward:

  1. Ensure your Mac is backed up.
  2. Open System Settings.
  3. Navigate to General > Software Update.
  4. Click the ‘i’ icon next to Beta Updates.
  5. Select ‘macOS Developer Tahoe Beta’ from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click ‘Done’ to confirm.

While this beta cycle appears to be centered on under-the-hood improvements, it’s essential for developers to stay updated and report any anomalies. This proactive approach ensures a more stable and refined experience for all users upon the official release.
