Apple May Reintroduce Ceramic Apple Watch This Year

Apple is reportedly considering reintroducing the ceramic Apple Watch, a premium variant last available in 2019 with the Series 5 model. This information comes from industry insights suggesting that the ceramic option could return as early as this year or the next.

The ceramic Apple Watch was first introduced with the Series 2 in 2016, offering a white ceramic case. A black ceramic variant followed with the Series 3. However, both options were discontinued with the Series 4, only for the white ceramic to make a brief comeback in the Series 5. Since the launch of the Series 6 in 2020, ceramic options have been absent from the lineup.

Currently, the Apple Watch Series 11 is available in aluminum and titanium cases, with the Apple Watch Ultra exclusively featuring a titanium case. The titanium models start at $699, while the aluminum versions begin at $399. In contrast, the ceramic Series 5 was priced starting at $1,299, reflecting its premium positioning.

The ceramic material is known for its glossy finish and high resistance to scratches, making it a sought-after option among collectors and enthusiasts. Its potential return could cater to consumers seeking a high-end, durable smartwatch.

Reintroducing the ceramic Apple Watch would not only diversify Apple’s product offerings but also appeal to a niche market that values luxury materials in wearable technology. As the smartwatch market becomes increasingly competitive, offering unique materials and designs could help Apple maintain its leading position.
