Apple is reportedly developing a new operating system, potentially named ‘homeOS,’ designed to unify elements from tvOS, watchOS, and iOS. This system is intended to power the company’s anticipated smart home hub, which is expected to combine a HomePod-like speaker with a 7-inch display.
The interface of ‘homeOS’ is said to feature a grid of icons, widgets, and apps, along with customizable clock faces. Notably, the system will incorporate facial recognition capabilities, allowing it to identify users and display personalized information. As users approach or move away from the hub, interface elements will dynamically adjust in size to enhance usability.
Core functionalities of the smart home hub are expected to include FaceTime video calls, home security monitoring, HomeKit accessory management, photo galleries, calendar integration, and music playback.
