Anthropic has announced the expansion of its Claude Cowork feature beyond the desktop environment, introducing support for both web and mobile platforms. This development aims to enhance user accessibility and flexibility by allowing tasks to be managed seamlessly across various devices.
Claude Cowork is designed to handle tasks by integrating with a user’s files, calendar, email, messaging applications, and web tools, streamlining workflows until completion. The beta rollout for mobile and web access will commence over the next several weeks, initially available to users subscribed to the Max plan, with plans to extend to additional subscription tiers subsequently.
The introduction of Claude Cowork to mobile and web platforms brings several key benefits:
- Seamless Task Continuity: Users can initiate a task on their desktop, monitor progress via their mobile device, and finalize outputs from any location, ensuring uninterrupted workflow.
- Background Processing: Tasks can continue autonomously, even when devices are offline. For instance, a user can schedule a client preparation task for early morning; Claude will process relevant emails, transcripts, and news, compile a briefing document, and draft a follow-up email, all ready for review over coffee.
- User-Centric Decision Making: When a task requires user input, Claude prompts the user through their mobile device, allowing for real-time adjustments and ensuring that no action is finalized without user approval.
Once the feature becomes available, users can access Claude Cowork via the sidebar in the Claude app on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, as well as through the web interface at claude.ai.
To commemorate this rollout, Anthropic is extending its doubled Cowork usage limits through August 5, providing users with increased capacity to explore the new functionalities.
In related news, Anthropic has also extended access to Claude Fable 5, its most advanced consumer model, for all paid plans. Initially set to transition to a token-based usage model, Fable 5 will now remain accessible to all paid subscribers through July 19. Users can utilize up to 50% of their weekly usage limit on Fable 5, with options to continue using the model via usage credits or switch to other models within their remaining limits.
These expansions reflect Anthropic’s commitment to enhancing user experience by providing versatile and accessible AI tools across multiple platforms. By integrating Claude Cowork into mobile and web environments, users gain the flexibility to manage tasks efficiently, regardless of their location or device, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of AI-assisted workflows.
