AI Apps Joining CarPlay, One Big Name Missing
With Copilot now onboard, there are six major third-party AI chatbot apps compatible with CarPlay: Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Meta AI, Anthropic’s Claude, SpaceXAI’s Grok, and Perplexity. Apple’s own Siri AI also becomes available once iOS 27 rolls out, although the Siri AI app will remain in beta and its full features will be released in stages.
The only high-profile holdout left is Google’s Gemini. For now, Gemini remains absent from CarPlay’s AI lineup, making it the last major chatbot app not yet supported under the new system for voice-operated, in-car assistants.
What It Takes to Use Copilot in the Car
The Copilot integration builds on CarPlay’s existing framework for voice-driven AI chat. Users must be on iOS 26.4 or newer to enable the functionality.
