With the launch of the Pixel 11 series, Google has adjusted its promotional offerings for the Google One AI Pro plan. Previously, purchasers of Pixel devices received a 12-month free trial of the AI Pro plan. However, this year, the trial period has been reduced to six months for the Pixel 11 Pro models, and the base Pixel 11 no longer includes a complimentary trial.
The Google One AI Pro plan, priced at $19.99 per month in the United States, provides users with 5TB of Google Drive storage, access to Google Health Premium, and expanded usage of Google’s Gemini AI features. These AI capabilities have become integral to the Pixel experience, enhancing functionalities such as live translation, advanced photography tools, and more intuitive user interactions.
It’s important to note that certain users are ineligible for this trial. Specifically, individuals who currently subscribe to a Google One plan exceeding 5TB, have an active Google One add-on, are members (but not managers) of a Google One family plan, or pay for their subscription through a third-party affiliate do not qualify for the complimentary trial.
These changes reflect Google’s evolving strategy in promoting its AI services. While the reduction in the trial period and the elimination of the free plan for the base model may disappoint some users, it underscores the company’s confidence in the value of its AI offerings. As AI becomes increasingly central to the smartphone experience, users may find the investment in the AI Pro plan worthwhile for accessing the full suite of features.
