James Marsden, known for his role as billionaire Owen Ashe in the second season of Apple TV+’s ‘Your Friends & Neighbors,’ is set to lead a new mystery comedy series titled ‘Bad News Dads.’ This marks Marsden’s third collaboration with Apple TV+, following his involvement in the upcoming thriller ‘Disavowed.’
‘Bad News Dads’ is based on the forthcoming novel by Adam Frost. The series centers on an inept men’s baseball recreational league team. When the wife of one of the players dies under suspicious circumstances, Ben (portrayed by Marsden) spearheads an impromptu and often misguided investigation into what he increasingly suspects is a murder.
In addition to his starring role, Marsden will serve as an executive producer for the series. The show is created by Stephen Falk, known for his work on ‘You’re the Worst.’
Adam Frost’s novel ‘Bad News Dads’ is scheduled for publication on April 6, 2027. The Apple TV+ adaptation is currently in development, with no announced premiere date.
Apple TV+ continues to expand its original content library, and the addition of ‘Bad News Dads’ underscores the platform’s commitment to delivering diverse and engaging programming. With Marsden’s proven track record and the creative team behind the project, ‘Bad News Dads’ is poised to be a noteworthy addition to Apple TV+’s lineup.
