Previously, WhatsApp managed its Mac beta releases through Apple’s TestFlight platform. However, the company has transitioned to distributing beta builds directly. In the latest beta version 26.30.10.20, a new ‘Keep up to date’ section has been introduced, presenting two automatic update options:
- Latest version: This option provides more frequent updates, delivering the newest features and bug fixes as they become available.
- Stable weekly version: This option offers updates on a weekly basis, focusing on stability and reliability.
Both options include the same core features, but the timing of their release differs. The ‘Latest version’ may occasionally introduce new functionalities ahead of the weekly build, appealing to users eager to access the latest features promptly. Conversely, the ‘Stable weekly version’ is designed for users who prioritize a more tested and stable experience.
As with many beta features, this rollout is gradual. Not all users running the latest beta will have immediate access to these update options. WhatsApp has not officially announced this feature or provided a timeline for a broader release.
