In the second quarter of 2026, India’s smartphone market experienced a 10% year-over-year decline in shipments. Amid this downturn, two brands stood out for their remarkable growth: Nothing and Google Pixel.
Nothing emerged as the fastest-growing smartphone brand in India during this period, achieving a 105% increase in shipments compared to the same quarter the previous year. This surge is largely attributed to the popularity of the Nothing Phone (4a) series and the company’s strategic partnership as the title sponsor of the RCB cricket team. It’s important to note that these figures do not include shipments from Nothing’s CMF sub-brand, which became independent late last year.
Google Pixel also demonstrated significant growth, particularly in the ultra-premium segment, which encompasses devices priced above INR 45,000. The brand saw a 68% year-over-year increase in shipments. This success is credited to enhanced marketing efforts, expansion into offline retail channels, and maintaining stable pricing without increases.
In contrast, other major players faced challenges. Chinese brands like Vivo and iQOO experienced declines in market share. Samsung managed a modest 2% growth in shipments, making it the only top brand to see an increase during this period.
The impressive performances of Nothing and Google Pixel highlight a shift in consumer preferences within the Indian market. Their success underscores the importance of innovative product offerings and strategic marketing. As the smartphone landscape continues to evolve, these brands’ ability to adapt and resonate with consumers will be crucial in sustaining their growth trajectories.
