Redmagic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet Launches Globally in August at $699

Redmagic has officially announced the global release of its latest gaming tablet, the Astra 2, set to launch in August. This new device builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, offering enhanced features tailored for gaming enthusiasts.

The Astra 2 boasts a 9.06-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 185Hz, ensuring smooth visuals during gameplay. Powering the tablet is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, complemented by a liquid cooling system designed to maintain optimal performance during extended gaming sessions. The device is equipped with an 8,300 mAh battery, supporting charging speeds of up to 75W through its dual USB-C ports. Out of the box, the Astra 2 runs on Android 16, customized with Redmagic’s user interface.

In terms of storage and memory configurations, the Astra 2 offers two options: a 12GB RAM with 256GB storage model priced at $699, and a 16GB RAM with 512GB storage variant available for $799. These price points position the Astra 2 competitively against other gaming tablets in the market.

The initial release is scheduled for mid-August, targeting customers who secure an “early bird voucher.” A broader global rollout is planned for later in the month, making the device accessible to a wider audience.

With its robust specifications and competitive pricing, the Redmagic Astra 2 is poised to make a significant impact in the gaming tablet market. Its combination of high-refresh-rate display, powerful processing capabilities, and efficient cooling system addresses the core needs of mobile gamers. As the device becomes available, it will be interesting to see how it performs in real-world scenarios and how it stacks up against existing competitors.
