Elon Musk Commends Anthropic’s AI Models and Ensures Continued Support

Elon Musk has recently expressed strong support for Anthropic’s AI models, Mythos and Fable, and assured that he will not disrupt the company’s operations, even as a competitor. This statement comes amid concerns from users on X (formerly Twitter) about the potential for Musk to leverage his control over SpaceX’s infrastructure to hinder Anthropic’s progress.

In response to these concerns, Musk acknowledged his previous skepticism about Anthropic’s success, referencing a September 2025 post where he doubted the company’s potential. However, he now recognizes Anthropic as a leader in the AI industry, highlighting the unparalleled capabilities of their Mythos and Fable models and anticipating the release of Mythos 2.

Anthropic’s partnership with SpaceX began in May 2026, when the AI company signed a significant deal to utilize the entire output of xAI’s Colossus 1 data center near Memphis, Tennessee. This agreement involves Anthropic paying $1.25 billion per month through May 2029, totaling approximately $40 billion in revenue for SpaceX’s xAI division. This collaboration underscores the mutual benefits derived from the arrangement, with Anthropic gaining substantial computing resources and SpaceX securing a major client.

Musk emphasized his commitment to fair competition by citing Tesla’s 2014 decision to allow others to use its technology without initiating patent lawsuits, as well as opening its Supercharger network and charging port design to competitors. He also noted that SpaceX launches competing satellite systems without imposing unfair terms or price increases. These examples illustrate Musk’s approach to fostering innovation and competition within the industry.

Despite Musk’s assurances, Anthropic has contractual safeguards in place to protect against potential disruptions. The substantial financial benefits for SpaceX further incentivize the maintenance of a stable partnership. Additionally, the collaboration offers SpaceX’s engineers valuable experience in supporting Anthropic’s rapidly advancing AI technologies, similar to the relationship between Amazon and its AI clients.

It’s worth noting that Musk has previously engaged in legal actions against competitors, such as the lawsuit against OpenAI. However, in this instance, he appears committed to supporting Anthropic’s endeavors without interference.

In the broader context, Musk’s endorsement of Anthropic’s AI models and his commitment to maintaining their partnership highlight the evolving dynamics within the AI industry. As companies like Anthropic continue to push the boundaries of AI capabilities, collaborations with established tech giants like SpaceX can provide the necessary infrastructure and resources to accelerate innovation. This development also underscores the importance of ethical considerations and fair competition practices in the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence.
