Anthropic is broadening the accessibility of its AI assistant, Claude Cowork, by extending its capabilities beyond the desktop environment to include mobile devices and web platforms. This expansion aims to provide users with a more flexible and continuous workflow experience across various devices.
Claude Cowork is designed to handle tasks by integrating with a user’s files, calendar, email, messaging applications, and web tools, working autonomously until the job is completed. The forthcoming beta release will be available to select paid subscribers, starting with those on the Max plan, with plans to extend access to additional tiers in the near future.
The integration of Claude Cowork into mobile and web platforms introduces several key enhancements:
- Seamless Workflow Continuity: Users can initiate tasks on one device and monitor or complete them on another, ensuring a cohesive work experience across desktops, smartphones, and tablets.
- Background Task Execution: Claude Cowork can continue processing tasks even when the user’s primary device is offline. For instance, a user can schedule a task to compile a client briefing overnight, and Claude will autonomously gather relevant emails, transcripts, and news articles to prepare the document by the designated time.
- User-Centric Decision Making: When a task requires user input or approval, Claude Cowork will prompt the user through their mobile device, allowing for real-time adjustments and ensuring that final outputs align with user expectations before completion.
Upon release, users will be able to access Claude Cowork via the sidebar in the Claude app on iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, as well as through the web interface at claude.ai. To commemorate this expansion, Anthropic is extending its doubled Cowork usage limits through August 5, providing users with increased capacity to explore the new functionalities.
