Recent regulatory filings from China have unveiled substantial battery capacity enhancements for Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models. These documents indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro Max will boast a 5,567mAh battery in the U.S. and a 5,391mAh battery in China. This represents a notable increase from the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which featured 5,088mAh and 4,823mAh batteries in the U.S. and China, respectively.
The iPhone 18 Pro is also set to receive a battery upgrade, with capacities of 4,288mAh in the U.S. and 4,056mAh in China. These figures show a modest rise from the iPhone 17 Pro’s 4,252mAh and 3,988mAh batteries in the respective regions.
The disparity between U.S. and Chinese models is attributed to design differences. U.S. versions have adopted an eSIM-only configuration, eliminating the physical SIM tray and allowing for a slightly larger battery. In contrast, Chinese models retain the physical SIM tray, which occupies additional internal space.
These battery capacity increases are expected to enhance the overall battery life of the iPhone 18 Pro series. Coupled with the anticipated efficiency gains from the new 2nm A20 Pro chip, users can look forward to extended usage times between charges.
