BenQ’s MA270S: A Glossy 27-Inch 5K Monitor Tailored for Mac Users

BenQ has introduced the MA270S, a 27-inch 5K monitor designed specifically for Mac users. Unlike many external monitors that feature matte finishes, the MA270S boasts a glossy screen, aligning with the aesthetic of Apple’s displays.

The monitor’s design mirrors that of its predecessor, the MA270U, featuring slim bezels and a minimalist silver stand equipped with a silicone pad to prevent MacBook scratches. Connectivity is a strong suit, offering four USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and two HDMI ports. A single USB-C cable can power a MacBook while managing connected accessories.

BenQ’s Display Pilot 2 app enhances user experience by allowing display and brightness adjustments directly from the Mac’s keyboard. Additionally, the built-in KVM switch enables seamless use of the same keyboard and mouse across both Mac and Windows systems.

The stand provides versatility with swivel, tilt, pivot, and height adjustments. The display itself covers 99% of the P3 color gamut, supports HDR400, offers a refresh rate up to 70Hz, and includes built-in speakers.

While the MA270S’s build incorporates more plastic compared to the all-aluminum Apple Studio Display, and its brightness peaks at 400 nits versus the Studio Display’s 600 nits, it comes at a more accessible price point of $999, compared to Apple’s $1,599. This makes the MA270S a compelling option for those seeking a glossy 5K monitor compatible with Mac systems.

For users prioritizing a glossy finish and 5K resolution without the premium price tag, the MA270S presents a balanced blend of performance and affordability. Its thoughtful design and feature set make it a noteworthy contender in the monitor market for Mac enthusiasts.
