Google has released a significant update for its Google TV Streamer, introducing enhanced integration with the newly launched Google Home Speaker. This update, identified as UTTK.260317.003, not only includes the April 2026 security patch but also adds support for pairing the Google Home Speaker with the TV Streamer to deliver spatial surround-sound audio.
The Google Home Speaker, priced at $99.99, is available for pre-order and is set to ship on June 25. It features Google’s advanced Gemini voice assistant, offering more natural and context-aware interactions. The speaker is available in four colors: Hazel, Porcelain, Jade, and Berry, and includes an underglow light ring to subtly indicate activity.
In addition to audio enhancements, the update introduces the ability to share Thread network credentials via QR codes. Users can access this feature by navigating to the ‘Network & Internet’ section in the settings menu and selecting ‘Share Thread network credentials.’ This functionality brings the Google TV Streamer up to Thread 1.4 standards, facilitating improved smart home device connectivity.
To install the latest update, users should go to Settings > System > About > System update on their Google TV Streamer devices.
By integrating the Google Home Speaker with the TV Streamer, Google is enhancing the home entertainment experience, offering users a more immersive audio setup. This move also underscores Google’s commitment to expanding its smart home ecosystem, providing seamless integration between its devices.
