OpenAI Introduces Scheduled Tasks in ChatGPT

OpenAI has unveiled a new feature for ChatGPT called ‘scheduled tasks,’ designed to enhance user productivity by allowing the AI to perform actions at predetermined times. This update is currently being rolled out to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.

The scheduled tasks feature enables users to set reminders, manage recurring tasks, and monitor specific events. Key aspects of this functionality include:

  • A dedicated ‘Scheduled’ page accessible from the sidebar, providing a centralized location to view, edit, pause, resume, or delete active tasks.
  • Improved speed and reliability of task execution.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, allowing tasks to be set for specific times or broader periods such as morning, afternoon, or evening.
  • Monitoring capabilities that can search the web or connected applications for updates, notifying users only when significant changes occur.

It’s important to note that tasks are limited to running once per hour, and unattended tasks may automatically pause after a period of inactivity. This new system replaces the previous ‘Pulse’ feature, which will be phased out within 14 days.

In addition to scheduled tasks, OpenAI has enhanced the image capture experience within the ChatGPT app. The updated interface offers a smoother transition into the camera, faster capture times, and a more seamless integration of selected images into the conversation flow.

These developments signify OpenAI’s commitment to evolving ChatGPT into a more proactive and user-friendly assistant. By automating routine tasks and improving interactive features, ChatGPT is poised to become an even more integral tool in users’ daily workflows.
