Apple’s latest software updates have discontinued support for 16 devices across its product lines, including Macs, iPads, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. Notably, iOS 27 continues to support all iPhone models compatible with iOS 26, but other platforms have seen reductions in supported devices.
Macs No Longer Supported by macOS Golden Gate
The following Mac models will not support macOS Golden Gate, with macOS Tahoe being their final supported version:
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
- MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
- iMac (2020)
- Mac Pro (2019)
iPads Excluded from iPadOS 27
The subsequent iPad models will not receive the iPadOS 27 update, with iPadOS 26 as their last supported version:
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation)
- iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation)
- iPad (8th generation)
- iPad mini 5
- iPad Air 3
Apple Watches and Apple TVs Affected
The following Apple Watch models will not support watchOS 27, with watchOS 26 being their final update:
- Apple Watch Ultra
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch SE (2nd generation)
Additionally, these Apple TV models will not receive tvOS 27, with tvOS 26 as their last supported version:
- Apple TV 4K (1st generation)
- Apple TV HD
It’s noteworthy that iOS 27 and HomePod 27 maintain support for all devices compatible with their previous versions, iOS 26 and HomePod 26, respectively.
As Apple continues to advance its software capabilities, older hardware may lack the necessary resources to support new features and performance enhancements. Users with affected devices should consider upgrading to newer models to benefit from the latest software improvements and security updates.
