Google has officially announced the launch of its latest smart speaker, the Google Home Speaker, set to hit store shelves on June 25, 2026, with pre-orders available starting today. This marks Google’s first new smart speaker release since 2020, introducing significant advancements in both hardware and software.
The Google Home Speaker is designed to deliver uniform 360-degree sound, providing balanced audio for music, podcasts, and movies. Compared to the Nest Mini, it features a driver that is twice as large (58 mm) and offers 2.5 times stronger bass, enhancing the overall listening experience.
Equipped with three far-field microphones, the device ensures accurate voice recognition. A physical toggle switch allows users to mute the microphones for privacy. The base of the speaker houses a light ring that dynamically glows to indicate when the Gemini assistant is listening, processing, or responding. Additionally, the top surface includes capacitive touch controls: the left and right areas adjust volume, while the center area functions as a play/pause button.
Measuring 4.2 inches in diameter and 3.4 inches in height, the Google Home Speaker comes with a non-detachable 1.5-meter power cable that connects via USB-C to the included 30W power adapter.
For enhanced audio setups, users can pair two Google Home Speakers for stereo sound or connect them with the Google TV Streamer to create a spatial surround-sound system. The speaker also integrates seamlessly with existing Nest speakers, displays, and other Cast-enabled devices for multi-room audio experiences.
Under the hood, the device is powered by a quad-core 2.0 GHz A55 processor with an NPU (AI accelerator), complemented by 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thread 1.3 border router (2.4 GHz).
As an added incentive, purchases made before September 30 come with six months of Google Home Premium, a $60 value, which includes access to Gemini Live for real-time conversational interactions.
The Google Home Speaker is priced at $99.99 and is available in four color options: Porcelain and Hazel are offered worldwide, while Jade and Berry are exclusive to the U.S. Google Store. The device will be available in 18 countries, including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
With this release, Google aims to reassert its position in the smart speaker market by offering a device that combines advanced AI capabilities with high-quality audio performance. The integration of the Gemini assistant and the inclusion of Google Home Premium highlight Google’s commitment to enhancing user experience through both hardware innovation and software services. As the smart home ecosystem continues to evolve, the Google Home Speaker positions itself as a competitive option for consumers seeking a versatile and intelligent audio solution.
