Apple is intensifying its efforts on the upcoming 20th anniversary iPhone, slated for release next year. The device is anticipated to feature an edge-to-edge display with curved glass on all sides, delivering a nearly borderless visual experience.
The anniversary iPhone will be available in two sizes, mirroring the dimensions of the forthcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models set to debut this September. These sizes are expected to align with the current iPhone 17 Pro lineup, suggesting options of approximately 6.3 and 6.9 inches.
In addition to the anniversary models, Apple plans to introduce a second-generation foldable iPhone. All three devices are expected to incorporate the new 2-nanometer A21 chip, marking a significant advancement in processing technology. Concurrently, Apple is developing the iPhone 19, which will utilize a different variant of the A21 chip, likely a base model rather than the Pro version.
The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature the A20 Pro processor, built on Apple’s 2-nanometer process. This represents the first node upgrade in several years, transitioning from the 3-nanometer chips used in previous flagship iPhones.
Notably, the standard iPhone 18 is scheduled for a spring 2027 release, diverging from the typical fall launch cycle. It will be equipped with a less powerful A20 chip, also based on the 2-nanometer process.
