Apple Launches Discounted Annual Subscription Model for App Store Users Outside U.S. and Singapore

Apple Unveils Discounted Annual Subscription Plans for App Store Users

Apple has introduced a new subscription model for App Store users, allowing them to pay monthly for a 12-month commitment at a discounted rate. This initiative aims to provide developers with more predictable long-term revenue while offering customers cost savings.

Traditionally, developers have promoted annual subscriptions by highlighting the lower monthly cost compared to standard monthly plans. Apple’s new model formalizes this approach, ensuring transparency and consistency in subscription offerings.

At launch, this option will not be available to developers in the United States or Singapore. In the U.S., ongoing litigation related to App Store subscription practices may have influenced this decision. Singapore’s complex payment regulations could also be a contributing factor.

Customers opting for this plan can view detailed payment structures and cancellation policies before committing. While they can cancel anytime, monthly payments will continue until the end of the 12-month term. Apple will provide reminders about upcoming renewals to help users manage their subscriptions effectively.

Developers can configure this subscription type in App Store Connect and test it using Xcode. The new plans will be available worldwide on devices running iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS Tahoe 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4 or later, with a broader rollout expected in May.
