Apple to Unveil Standalone Siri App with iOS 27 at WWDC 2026
Apple is set to revolutionize its virtual assistant by introducing a dedicated Siri application with the release of iOS 27, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This strategic move aims to transform Siri from a background tool into a comprehensive, conversational AI chatbot, enhancing user interaction across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
Siri’s Evolution into a Chatbot
The forthcoming standalone Siri app is designed to offer a more immersive and interactive experience, drawing inspiration from chat-based platforms like Messages. Users will be able to engage in natural, back-and-forth conversations with Siri, making the assistant more intuitive and responsive to complex queries. This development aligns with Apple’s collaboration with Google to integrate Gemini AI models, which are expected to power future Siri enhancements and Apple Intelligence features. Although these capabilities were previewed earlier, their public release is anticipated to coincide with the launch of iOS 27.
Innovative Design and Integration
The redesigned Siri interface in iOS 27 introduces a seamless integration with the Dynamic Island feature, initially introduced in 2022. Upon activation, Siri will prompt users with a Search or Ask option at the top of the screen. During processing, a pill-shaped indicator labeled Searching will appear alongside a glowing Siri icon. Once results are ready, the interface will expand into a larger, translucent panel featuring Apple’s Liquid Glass design. Users can further interact by pulling down the menu to continue the conversation, enhancing the fluidity and responsiveness of the assistant.
