Lucid Gravity SUVs Now Feature Apple CarPlay Integration
Lucid Motors has announced the integration of Apple CarPlay into its Gravity SUV lineup, enhancing the in-car experience for drivers and passengers alike. This update, which began rolling out on March 12, 2026, is available to both new and existing Lucid Gravity owners through a complimentary over-the-air software update.
Seamless Smartphone Integration
With the addition of Apple CarPlay, Lucid Gravity drivers can now seamlessly connect their iPhones to the vehicle’s infotainment system. This integration allows access to a range of features, including navigation, phone calls, messaging, and music, all accessible directly from the car’s display. The system supports both wired and wireless connections, offering flexibility and convenience to users.
Global Rollout and Additional Features
The initial rollout commenced in North America, with plans to extend the update to drivers in the Middle East and Europe later this month as part of the Lucid UX 3.5 software release. In addition to Apple CarPlay, this update introduces Android Auto support, catering to a broader range of smartphone users and ensuring that both iOS and Android users can enjoy a connected driving experience.
Commitment to Customer Satisfaction
Emad Dlala, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Software at Lucid Motors, emphasized the company’s dedication to meeting customer expectations: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are two of the most sought-after features by our customers. We are now providing a seamless connection between mobile devices and the Lucid Gravity. We’re excited to introduce these features to Lucid Gravity, which now offers even greater comfort and convenience for owners.
Building on Previous Integrations
This move follows Lucid’s earlier integration of Apple CarPlay into its luxury sedan, the Lucid Air, three years prior. By extending this functionality to the Gravity SUV, Lucid continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the user experience through advanced technology and connectivity.
Industry Trends and Competitor Movements
The automotive industry is witnessing a growing trend of integrating smartphone connectivity features into vehicles. While Lucid Motors is expanding its support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, other manufacturers are making similar strides. For instance, General Motors (GM) initially removed Apple CarPlay from its electric vehicle lineup but later reinstated it due to customer demand. A new aftermarket upgrade kit developed by White Automotive and Media Services (WAMS) now brings Apple CarPlay functionality to select GM electric vehicles, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Chevrolet Equinox EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV (LT and RST trims), and GMC Sierra EV. This upgrade offers a fully integrated wired and wireless CarPlay experience, including full onscreen CarPlay functionality, integration with the vehicle’s infotainment system, Apple Maps display in the instrument cluster, and turn-by-turn navigation on the Heads-Up Display (HUD). Currently, the upgrade kit is available through LaFontaine Chevrolet in Plymouth, Michigan, with plans for broader availability in the future.
Future Outlook
As the demand for seamless smartphone integration continues to rise, automakers are recognizing the importance of offering features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to meet consumer expectations. Lucid Motors’ proactive approach in integrating these technologies positions the company favorably in the competitive electric vehicle market. By prioritizing user experience and technological innovation, Lucid is setting a benchmark for others in the industry to follow.
