Google Chrome to Launch on ARM64 Linux Devices in Q2 2026
In a significant development for the Linux community, Google has announced that its Chrome browser will be available for ARM64 Linux devices starting in the second quarter of 2026. This expansion follows the browser’s previous adaptations for Apple Silicon in 2020 and ARM-powered Windows devices in 2024.
The introduction of Chrome to ARM64 Linux platforms addresses the increasing demand for a browsing experience that integrates the open-source Chromium project’s benefits with Google’s suite of applications and features. Google emphasized the extensive effort involved in ensuring that ARM64 Linux users receive a browsing experience that is secure, stable, and feature-rich, consistent with what is offered on other platforms.
A notable aspect of this launch is Google’s collaboration with NVIDIA to facilitate the installation of Chrome on the NVIDIA DGX Spark. This AI supercomputing device, which incorporates NVIDIA’s Grace Blackwell architecture into a compact 1-liter form factor, will support Chrome installation through NVIDIA’s software package management service.
For users on other Linux distributions, the ARM64 version of Chrome will be accessible via the official Chrome download page at chrome.com/download.
This initiative marks a significant milestone in Google’s commitment to the Linux community and the ARM ecosystem. The company anticipates that developers and power users will leverage Chrome’s capabilities on this new generation of high-performance devices.
