Zoom Unveils AI-Powered Office Suite and Announces Upcoming AI Avatars for Meetings
Zoom has announced the launch of its AI-powered office suite, introducing applications such as AI Docs, AI Slides, and AI Sheets. These tools are designed to enhance productivity by enabling users to generate document drafts, data-driven spreadsheets, and presentations based on meeting transcripts and data from other services. The AI-powered productivity apps are set to be available as a preview in the spring.
A standout feature in this suite is the introduction of AI avatars, which will be available later this month. These photorealistic avatars are capable of mimicking users’ appearances, expressions, and lip and eye movements. They are designed to represent users in online meetings and Zoom’s asynchronous video messaging product, providing a solution for times when users are not camera-ready.
To address security concerns, Zoom is implementing deepfake detection technology within its meetings. This feature will alert participants to potential audio or video impersonations, ensuring the authenticity of meeting participants.
The AI Companion 3.0, which was initially introduced on the web in September, is now being integrated into Zoom’s desktop application. This AI assistant has seen significant growth, with monthly active users more than tripling in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2026 compared to the previous year. Additionally, Workvivo, Zoom’s employee communication app, will incorporate the AI assistant. This integration allows users to connect with services such as Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Gmail, Outlook, Asana, and Jira, facilitating cross-platform queries and tasks.
Zoom is also introducing a feature that enables users to create custom AI agents using natural language prompts. These agents can operate across various platforms, and users can interact with them in chat to accomplish specific tasks. For developers, Zoom is providing access to its speech, vision, and language intelligence APIs, which can be deployed either on-premises or in the cloud.
To enhance user experience, Zoom is updating its chat functionality by leveraging AI to highlight key insights and summarize conversation threads. The company also plans to unify the design across desktop, mobile, and web platforms, ensuring seamless access to AI tools such as notes, meeting questions, and transcriptions.
These developments position Zoom alongside other companies like Canva and emerging startups such as Context, which are also focusing on AI-driven office software. Salesforce-owned Slack has been integrating more AI features into its team communication applications, indicating a broader industry trend towards AI-enhanced productivity tools.
