Google Enhances Opal with Automated Workflow Creation
Google has unveiled a significant enhancement to its vibe-coding application, Opal, by introducing a new agent that enables users to create automated workflows through simple text prompts. This advancement leverages the Gemini 3 Flash model to intelligently select and utilize tools necessary for task execution, streamlining the development of mini-apps without requiring extensive technical expertise.
The newly integrated agent in Opal is designed to autonomously plan and execute tasks. For example, it can employ Google Sheets to maintain continuity across sessions, such as managing a shopping list for an e-commerce application. This functionality allows the agent to independently determine and implement subsequent steps in a given task, enhancing efficiency and user experience.
A standout feature of this agent is its interactive nature. When additional information is required, it proactively engages users by requesting input or presenting options to guide the next steps. Opal was initially launched for U.S. users in July 2025, offering a platform for creating or remixing mini web applications. By October 2025, Google expanded Opal’s availability to 15 additional countries, including Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, and Singapore. In December of the same year, Opal was integrated into the Gemini web app, providing users with a visual editor to craft custom applications without any coding requirements.
