Apple to Launch New MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips Alongside macOS 26.3 Release

Apple Set to Unveil New MacBook Pro Models with M5 Pro and M5 Max Chips Alongside macOS 26.3 Release

Apple is poised to introduce its latest MacBook Pro lineup, featuring the advanced M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, in conjunction with the release of macOS 26.3. This information comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who indicates that the new models, internally referred to as J714 and J716, are scheduled for the macOS 26.3 software cycle, spanning February through March.

Currently, macOS 26.3 is undergoing beta testing, with a public release anticipated in February. While Gurman mentions a potential March timeframe, this appears less probable unless the beta testing extends unexpectedly or the new MacBook Pro models are associated with subsequent updates like macOS 26.3.1.

The macOS 26.3 Release Candidate is expected to be distributed in the first half of February, suggesting that the announcement of the new MacBook Pro models could be imminent.

In October, AppleInsider’s Marko Zivkovic initially reported that MacBook Pro models equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips were expected to ship with macOS 26.3, a claim now corroborated by multiple sources.

Apart from the integration of the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, significant design changes are not anticipated for these models. However, looking ahead to late 2026 or 2027, the MacBook Pro is projected to undergo a substantial redesign. Rumored enhancements include an OLED display with touch capabilities, M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, a slimmer profile, and built-in cellular connectivity.
