Apple TV+ Cancels ‘The Last Frontier’ After One Season Amid Mixed Reviews

Apple TV+ Cancels ‘The Last Frontier’ After Just One Season

Apple TV+ has decided not to renew the Alaskan wilderness drama The Last Frontier for a second season. The series, which premiered on October 10, 2025, and concluded its ten-episode run on December 5, 2025, starred Jason Clarke as U.S. Marshal Frank Remnick. Remnick was tasked with maintaining order in Alaska’s remote backcountry, a mission that became perilous following a prison transport plane crash that released numerous inmates.

Despite initial anticipation, the show received mixed reviews, holding a 46% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The cancellation follows a pattern of Apple TV+ ending several series after their first seasons, including Shantaram, Mr. Corman, Monster Factory, High Desert, Central Park, Swagger, Suspicion, and City on Fire.

The cast of The Last Frontier featured Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and Alfre Woodard. The series was created by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, with Bokenkamp also serving as an executive producer alongside Clarke.

While the creators had discussed potential directions for a second season, including a change in location, Apple TV+ has opted not to proceed with the series. This decision reflects the streaming service’s ongoing strategy to evaluate and refine its content offerings based on viewership and critical reception.
