Former Apple COO Jeff Williams Nominated to Join Disney’s Board of Directors

The Walt Disney Company has announced the nomination of Jeff Williams, former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Apple Inc., to its Board of Directors. Williams is set to stand for election as an independent director at Disney’s 2026 annual shareholders’ meeting. If elected, his addition will expand the board from 10 to 11 members.

Williams retired from Apple earlier this year after a distinguished 27-year tenure. He joined Apple in 1998 as Head of Worldwide Procurement and was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 2004. In 2015, he ascended to the role of COO, overseeing Apple’s global supply chain, service and support functions, and the design team. Notably, Williams played a pivotal role in the launch of the Apple Watch and spearheaded the company’s health and fitness initiatives.

James P. Gorman, Chairman of Disney’s Board, expressed enthusiasm about Williams’ nomination, stating, Jeff Williams is a highly accomplished executive who for decades helped steward one of the most innovative and admired companies that serves billions of consumers across the globe. Jeff’s proven leadership and unique experience at the intersection of technology, global operations, and product design make him a valuable nominee to our board as the company continues to focus on creative storytelling and groundbreaking innovation.

Williams himself conveyed his admiration for Disney’s legacy, remarking, I have long admired Disney’s legacy of pairing imagination with innovation—leveraging new technologies in bold, creative ways to bring to life timeless stories and entertain its guests. It is an honor to be nominated to the board of this storied company. I look forward to working with Disney’s talented leadership team and contributing to the company’s ongoing journey of creativity and excellence.

This nomination marks the second time Disney has sought to integrate technology leadership into its board. In November 2022, the company appointed Carolyn Everson, former president of Instacart and a veteran of Meta Platforms, as a director. Williams’ extensive experience in technology and operations is expected to provide valuable insights as Disney continues to innovate in the entertainment industry.

The election of Williams and the re-election of Disney’s current directors will be decided at the company’s 2026 annual shareholders’ meeting.
