Google Announces New Launch Date for Pixel 9a

Google has officially rescheduled the release of its latest mid-range smartphone, the Pixel 9a, following a brief postponement due to a component quality issue. The device is now set to launch on April 10, 2025, in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Subsequent release dates include April 14 for several European countries and April 16 for select Asia-Pacific regions. The launch date for Japan will be announced soon.

The Pixel 9a, priced at $499, boasts a 6.3-inch Actua display with a 60-120Hz refresh rate, powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chipset. It comes equipped with 8GB of RAM and offers storage options of 128GB or 256GB. The device features a dual-camera system with a 48MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide lens, and it houses a substantial 5,100mAh battery. Additionally, the Pixel 9a is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.

The design of the Pixel 9a marks a departure from previous models, eliminating the prominent camera bar in favor of a minimalist, flat back with a subtle camera bump. This design choice not only enhances the device’s aesthetics but also contributes to improved thermal management and accommodates the larger battery. The phone is available in four colors: Obsidian, Porcelain, Peony, and Iris.

Initially slated for release earlier in March, the Pixel 9a’s launch was delayed to address a component quality issue affecting a small number of devices. Google has since resolved the issue, ensuring that the device meets the company’s quality standards.

The Pixel 9a will be available for purchase through various retailers, including the Google Store, Google Fi, Amazon, and Best Buy. Pre-orders are expected to commence soon, with the device shipping on the newly announced dates.
