Google has unveiled Pixel Care+, a new device protection program designed to offer enhanced coverage and support for its hardware products. This initiative replaces the previous Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection plans in the United States, with existing subscribers set to transition to Pixel Care+ in the coming months.
Pixel Care+ aims to provide a higher level of service and peace of mind for Google hardware owners. The program encompasses unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty coverage, and mechanical damage. Notably, it offers $0 screen and battery repairs, as well as $0 post-warranty malfunction claims. Users will benefit from genuine Google parts and replacements, priority support from Pixel experts, and the convenience of self-service claims through the Google Store website. Additionally, there is an optional add-on for loss and theft coverage.
An added advantage of Pixel Care+ is the provision of free upgraded shipping on replacements, including next-day delivery. This ensures minimal downtime for users requiring device repairs or replacements.
Pricing for Pixel Care+ varies depending on the device. For instance, coverage for a Pixel 10 is priced at $10 per month or a one-time fee of $199 for two years. The program is available in the U.S. starting immediately for new eligible devices, which include:
– Pixel 8 and newer models
– Pixel Watch 2 and newer models
– Pixel Tablet
– Fitbit Ace LTE
– Fitbit Versa 4
– Fitbit Sense 2
– Fitbit Charge 6
– Fitbit Inspire 3
Users have the option to enroll in Pixel Care+ within 60 days of purchasing an eligible device. Claims can be initiated directly through the Google Store, where users can select a convenient location and time for repairs. Alternatively, claims can be filed via the My Pixel App, streamlining the process for users seeking support.
This launch underscores Google’s commitment to enhancing customer experience by providing comprehensive protection plans that cater to the diverse needs of its hardware users.
